Computer won’t start

There can be a range of reasons the computer won't start, from the computer not being plugged in, the battery is dead, keyboard or power switch broken etc.

If there are no lights on a laptop or desktop when you press the power switch confirm that it is plugged in.  For laptops if the battery is run down you may need to charge it for a half an hour before it will turn on.

For desktop PC's please confirm that the plug is attached to an outlet that works.

If it is plugged into a power strip or surge protector please make sure the power strip or surge protector is switched on.
